Influence of Quality of Work Life on Employees’ Engagement in Select Oil and Gas Companies in South-South Nigeria
Abstract
The researcher focused on the influence of quality of work-life on employee engagement in select oil and gas companies in South-South Nigeria. The researcher adopted survey design. The population is 2,181 employees of Nigerian Gas Company, Halliburton Nigeria Company, Bakar Hughes Company, Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, Cybernetics International Services Limited, Nepal Oil and Gas Company and Rain Oil Company. The sample size was 553. The hypothesis was tested using regression analysis. Findings indicated that quality of work-life had positive effects on employees’ engagement in the select companies (r = 0.942, p = 0.00). The researcher concluded that quality of work-life is essential for employee engagement and performance to increase productivity. Finally, it was recommended that the strategic managers in the Oil and Gas Companies studied should be backed by organisational policy that involve employees scope of managing their time, including the balance between life at home and at work.
