Communication Strategies and COVID-19 Management in Delta State, Nigeria

Abstract

This study sought to examine the communication strategies used in the management of COVID-19 in Delta State. It specifically sought to ascertain the level of awareness of the COVID-19 pandemic among Deltans, identify the various communication strategies used in the management of COVID-19 in Delta State, assess the level of effectiveness of the communication strategies deployed for the management of COVID-19in Delta State and examine the challenges associated with the communication strategies deployed for the management of COVID-19 in Delta State. Anchored on the systems theory, the researchers used a descriptive design, using the survey approach. From the targeted population, a sample size of 400 was drawn and questionnaire was used for data collection. Findings showed that a large proportion of the respondents are aware of the COVID-19 pandemic in Delta State. It showed that the strategies used in Delta State were effective. It was, therefore, recommended among others, the need to review all forms of communication strategies deployed for the management and dissemination of information of COVID-19 pandemic in Delta State.
