EPIDEMIOLOGICAL APPROACH FOR THE COMPUTATION OF THRESHOLD CONDITIONS AND SENSITIVITY ANALYSIS FOR A LYMPHATIC FILARIASIS DISEASE MODEL

Abstract

An Ordinary Differential equation (ODE) model to study the transmission dynamics of lymphatic filariasis is proposed with 8 nonlinear mutually disjoint compartments. The model is proven to be mathematically and epidemiologically well posed. The basic reproduction number, Ro , was computed using epidemiological approach. Sensitivity analysis was performed to find the impact of the model parameters on the basic reproduction number, Ro.  The public health implication of the result of the sensitivity analysis is presented.
