Abstract

In this paper, the performance evaluation of uniform circular array (UCA) and uniform linear array (ULA) antenna array in a Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) micro cell and outdoor to indoor were studied. Both antenna rays were considered using the WINNERII model. The channel model enables simulation
in both line-of-sight (LOS) and non-LOS propagation conditions. The model also allowed multiple indoor and outdoor propagation modelling. Performance with WINNER-generated channel coefficients was used to present the channel impulse response and frequency response of the simulation utilization. Computer Simulation result showed a better performance in terms of frequency and impulse response by UCA antenna over ULA in an urban micro-cell and urban micro outdoor to indoor scenario from the WINNERII model.These results can be applied in antenna assignment and design for massive MIMO systems of 5G implementation.
